Giambastiani's blog

so, why write on the internet?

When I first started using the Internet in the late '90s (yes, with a capital I), it was a world full of potential yet challenging to navigate. It was a haven for tech enthusiasts eager to experiment, even if it meant a few bumps along the way. Back then, maintaining a website was a kind of proof of work, a way of telling people "I know what I’m doing, and I have something to say."

Fast forward to today, and the internet has transformed into a digital ether where everyone and everything is connected. There are countless spaces for self-expression, from social media to online portfolios and personal sites. Expressing oneself has never been easier. Keeping a blog might seem a tad old-fashioned, yet like a wristwatch that never loses its charm, I think there’s something undeniably appealing about embracing an outdated technology.

I’m starting this blog for two reasons. The first is rather selfish: writing brings clarity; it’s a way of structuring my thoughts and interests, much like a private journal does. Second, I hope these texts will resonate with someone. I don’t expect them to, but I would be happy if they did.
